hello! i work at amazon fulfillment center in delaware and is contemplating transferring to the SC location. im seeking advice on:
-safe neighborhoods with rent under $800
-whats the area around the charleston/spartanburg amazon location like?
-activities for young, single residents
-are there lots of job opportunities for the hospitality industry or human resources field?
-silly question: are accents thick down there? i LOVE southern accents lol

any advice would be helpful! i plan on moving in 3 months. thank you!

My first question is, are you planning to move to the Spartanburg/Greenville area, or to the Charleston area? There's a huge distance between the two locations. Sp/Gvl is in the north/west part of the state, whereas Charleston is in the south/east part of the state.

I'd don't know much about the neighborhoods in Spartanburg or Charleston, but you should be able to find an apartment on the Eastside of Greenville for the price range you are looking for. Greenville has a very nice downtown with a thriving nightlife that is appealing to young people.

Greenville Health Systems is constantly expanding and hiring, so if you are looking for a job in the hospital industry, you should have not problems finding one there.

Accents are relative. When I first moved here 15 years ago, I noticed a lot of people (mostly natives) have a heavy accent. But Greenville has a lot of people that live here that did not grow up here so accents vary. If you want to hear some really heavy SC accents, go down to the Anderson/Pickens area and you'll find plenty.

Heya! My wife is from Bridgeville, DE I always tease her that Delaware is really a southern state because they have tons of trailer parks , and at least in lower DE there is a southern-like accent. Oh, and they serve sweet tea up there!

Anways, welcome to G'ville. Can't say about staying in S'burg but Greenville has a ton of apartment communities. Our company hires a ton of younger folks (out of college, etc) and they're always doing stuff it seems (mostly drinking probably. heh).

Going to assume she meant Greenville/Spartanburg.... but yeah, $800/mo should be doable even in one of the nicer areas of town. Though like most people from Greenville, I'd suggest sticking to Greenville (not Spartanburg).

Cost of living is much cheaper than Delaware. If you get a "lateral" transfer you are probably doing pretty well!
