Hi all,
I'm seriously considering moving to Simpsonville area. I have 2 teens (ages 13 and 15) so good schools and low crime/safe area are important. Also, we are bringing my brother in law along, who is a liver transplant patient here in NY, so a transplant center needs to be within an hour's drive. Also, can anyone let me know what the expenses are down there (cable, electric, heat, homeowners insurance, etc. and any hidden taxes/expenses that a New Yorker would not be familiar with). I would ideally like to get a 3 to 4 bedroom house with around 2 acres of land for about $150,000. Would that even be possible? What are some of the surrounding areas that would be a good fit? Also, need a town with things/activites/amenities like restaurants, etc. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
QB

2 acres in Simpsonville with a 3 to 4 bedroom house is going to be a lot more than $150k. Simpsonville has become a very popular area and land around there has become much more expensive than it once was. You can find a 3 to 4 bedroom on an acre or two for around $150k in this area but it will probably be in a more rural area (Blue Ridge HS area, Palmetto HS area, maybe Wren HS area if you really look).

Most of your school questions have been recently answered in a thread just a few below here - reading that thread might be helpful.

The main hospital will be Greenville Memorial on the West side of Greenville so you would want to base your search radius off of that.

I think you will get a lot of responses to most of your questions, so I'm going to just address the liver transplant issue. MUSC in Charleston is the only hospital system in SC to offer liver transplants. That's approx a 3 hour drive from this area. The closest option I believe is going to be the Carolinas Healthcare System in Charlotte, NC approx 1.5 hours away.

Greenville Health Systems and Bon Secours-St. Francis are the two hospital groups in Greenville and they are both large, high quality systems but do not offer liver transplants.
