What a some names of specific neighborhoods that have lots of transplants? Do most transplants end up in newer neighborhoods? Please share your observance of transplants in your neighborhood. I was told, by a realtor, that we have 43 people a day moving to Greenville. Where is everyone coming from? I am just curious as to where they are all moving?
People tend to move to the Simpsonville area more commonly than others. Getting a place on that side of town is competitive though. Houses are selling in less than 12 hours in many cases right now. If you see a place on Zillow for less than $250K you will probably have competing bids to buy the same house.
Taylors is also becoming very popular. Along highway 290 there are a ton of new subdivisions popping up. It's a little cheaper because it's not as close to shopping as Simpsonville is. Taylors is a 30min drive to everywhere type of situation. I would say that with all of the people in Taylors now they're going to have to start building some kind of retail out there. You can take a look at Blue Ridge Plantation if you prefer to have a builder build you a custom home. That's a large development.
I've lived here for 16 years and I'm moving downtown in a month. I'm tired of the suburbs. Outside of downtown you'll find that there is a walkscore of absolute 0. I would consider it a negative walkscore because there are no sidewalks and a real possibility of being run over if you tried to do something like walk to a store. If you have the money and don't need the extra space downtown is the way to go.
i see sidewalks all over the place outside of downtown. rarely see anybody on them though.
Taylors is near downtown. It is the area with Pebble Creek golf course north of Wade Hampton, and Eastside High school south of Wade Hampton. It is like 10 minutes to shopping.
Blue Ridge plantation area has a Taylors address but that isn't Taylors.
I think transplants move to a variety of neighborhoods in the area.

The area surrounding Blue Ridge Plantation is the area with some of the largest growth in Taylors right now. Regardless, arguing whether or not something is or isn't Taylors is almost pointless given the fact that it's not even incorporated. I don't think Taylors has any kind of government other than the county.
There may be some sidewalks in areas outside of downtown but it's definitely not set up for walking. The growth in Greenville is either on the very urban extreme or the very suburban extreme (places like Blue Ridge Plantation). There's not much crossover.
Greenville has a lot of new housing developments that are closer to shopping than the Blue Ridge area, such as in Greer, Mauldin, Simpsonville, Easley, Powdersville, Traveler's rest (behind Furman). Blue Ridge is much more rural than average housing in the area.
Taylor's has a Main Street, right off Wade Hampton. I that generally people refer to the Blue Ridge Plantatin neighborhoods as Blue Ridge not Taylors. The Blue Ridge high school actually has a Greer address. If I did not call it it Blue Ridge, I would call it the Tigerville area.

Seems like real estate agents are trained to take all transplants to Simpsonville, Five Forks, and the Riverside High school area.
I remember my grandmother saying once they finished I-385 from I-85 to connect to the existing freeway south of Mauldin that Simpsonville would grow quickly. I remember thinking she was nuts - I thought no one would want to live out in the country around Simpsonville. I was very, very wrong.

This is the truth.
We helped a work colleague find a home here, and they fired the first agent because she kept sending listings and showing them homes in Simpsonville and Five Forks, despite being told they didn't like it out there.
It was crazy, she was crazy.
The second agent had a similar addiction to Pebble Creek. But an intervention was effective with her, at least.
We live in Blue Ridge Plantation (Hidden Springs section) and find a good mix of both transplants and locals/natives. The neighborhood has been growing slowly in the 8+ years we've lived there but has accelerated recently with several homes under construction or recently completed.
Just a point of clarification, Blue Ridge Plantation is served by the Taylors post office but is technically city limits of Greer, as it was annexed when built. This relates to the fact that the neighborhood borders Lake Robinson and that city sewer is offered (rather than septic tanks).
