I have received a job offer there for the 2018-2019 school year. I'm a Teacher/Coach. My wife is also a teacher. We have a 3-year-old and 1 on the way. How is this area? We have family in Simpsonville and Mauldin. Would we have to drive to Anderson for everything? Thanks.
Yes you'd have to drive to Anderson for most anything and everything. Belton and Honea Path are very small, which is why they share a high school. If I had to choose, I would live closer to Belton than Honea Path.
There are some good neighborhoods near the US29 corridor that are pretty close to Anderson, but have Belton addresses. The area is pretty quiet and not busy, so pretty good for families.
It is a very small town and shopping will be pretty limited. I'd expect to drive into Anderson for most shopping outside of groceries. The schools there are pretty good and there seems to be a strong sense of community as well. I wouldn't rule out living in Belton unless you just don't like small towns.
Driving to shopping in Anderson will be 20-30 minutes and Greenville shopping will be another 10 minutes of driving.
My parents live just outside Belton and my family and I spend most of the winter there. I'd highly recommend staying closer to Belton over Honea Path, but that's just me.
The Ingles in Belton is fantastic.
That being said, do be prepared for frequent trips to Anderson and, less frequently, Greenville. But, don't let that scare you. We can get from my parents house to my brother and sister in laws house in Simpsonville (right off of Fairview Rd) in about 20-25 minutes. To the YMCA in Anderson it's about 20 minutes. It's really not a bad drive at all.
I echo what everyone's said so far. We live in Anderson, not far at all from Belton. It's lovely and convenient to both Anderson and Greenville/Mauldin/Simpsonville, especially if you're situated close to highway 29.
Fred's in Belton has all your wants and needs under one roof. Belton folk will back me up on this :-)
