Wow. 39 years! She has hardly aged. She looks fantastic and will be greatly missed by that station and people of Western North Carolina.

I think Stan Pamfilis, WLOS-TV's Sports Director, has the longest active tenure in the television market. He joined WLOS-TV in 1979, and has reached 40 years with the station.

Both have been very loyal to those stations and had long runs.
I think Stan had two stints at WLOS. He left and then returned I believe.
If I remember correctly Annette Estes came over to WYFF from a long run at WSPA back in late 80's to early 90's and became the 6 and 11 anchor for a few years. Carol returned to that position after Annette Estes departed but worked with WYFF the whole time.
The two competitors (WSPA,WYFF) have traded personalities at times. Gordon Dill is at WSPA and had worked at WYFF and Carl Clark (not to be confused with Carol Clarke)- 6&11 male anchor before Michael Cogdill went to WSPA after retiring at WYFF. Jane Robelot now at WYFF formerly at WSPA.

Annette Estes was fired from WSPA for dropping the F bomb on air.

WYFF had some old footage on their site recently of Annette and Carl Clark on John Cessarich's first day at WYFF in 91. LOL at the old technology in the weather center (radar and huge computer keyboard).
I remember when it happened, maybe it was when she was on WYFF, but it did happen. HEr an the coanchor were talking as the broadcast was coming to an end, you could hear her plainly, as she looked towards the camera and said well, why the F--- is my mic still on?

According to this article it happened at WSPA. She elected not to renew her contract it states. She went to WYFF from 1987 to 1992 replacing Carol Goldsmith(now Clarke) during that time who moved to the noon slot.
I liked her. She was at WSPA for a long time and was very popular hence WYFF picking her up. I forgot Stan Olenik the sports anchor went to WYFF from WSPA also around that time.
Sadly you hear people now dropping the f bomb out in public like it's nothing. Society sure has changed.

I swore her departure was a lot sooner, like the next day she was gone. Maybe they gave her a few days off or something after it happened. I do remember her not being on air the next day.
WSPA is now promoting Christy Henderson as the Chief Meteorologist for the Upstate since John Cessarich has retired from WYFF. But she only works the early morning shows rather than the prime time evening shows which is a bit odd for the lead weather talent.
