I chose Wachovia because I don't think any bank has more locations or ATMs than they do. I've never had a problem with Wachovia, and overall I've always been happy with their customer service.

I think a close runner-up with ATM locations would be BofA.

I have banked with both wachovia and Bank of America. I chose to stay with boa instead of wachovia dispite the lack of locations.

Not to quote myself, but I guess in terms of locations and ATMs, BB&T would come in 2nd, and Bank of America might be 3rd.

I banked with BB&T when I still lived in NC and have stayed with them since moving here. We also got our new mortgage here with BB&T. I really like the bank, and they seem to have plenty of ATMs around the area.

I have been with Fifth Third for a long time, but they don't have a nearby branch, so I recently opened a USAA account. You do have to meet their qualifications, but if you do you get I think 10 or 15 free ATM withdrawals per month. I haven't started using that yet, so I am not sure.

Oh, and as for the qualifications, if you haven't heard of USAA, it's likely you don't qualify. :-(

I highly recommend Palmetto Bank. Very stable and great customer service. They have a branch location in most towns/communities around the Greenville area and beyond.

I have heard really good things about BB&T,most of my friends bank with them. personally I choose to bank with BOA because its more convenient if you travel around, they have one in just about every city I go to, and their online banking is really easy to use.

BOA: 43 ATM 18mi radius of 29601

Wachovia: 30 ATM 18mi radius of 29601

BB&T:25 ATM 19mi radius of 29601

Palmetto: Around 37 locations, hard to tell the radius, they are spread out though

also i'm sure BOA has free checking, wachovia probably does too, most banks do these days, they have to compete ya know

Good thread. Is SunTrust in SC? It looks like Chase doesn't operate there.
