We have had separate "recycle bins" where you put your cans plastic etc. Do the communities recycle here ? After doing it for so long it seems almost criminal to throw everything in the trash.
I think the city of Simpsonville cancelled their recycling as part of budget cuts. Great progressive-thinking environmental move there guys. We weren't in the city limits anyway and happily pay extra for recycling as part of our trash pick up. It beats hauling all the stuff to the recycling place every week. Waste Management only picks up every two weeks and no longer recycles glass. (?!) So we switched to Oneal Sanitation. For an extra $15 every three months, they pick up every Friday and take everything. You just have to separate the glass from the other stuff. Having lived in and visited several other parts of the country and Canada, this area is very behind in environmental stuff like recycling, especially in terms of having receptacles available in public areas. If you want to recycle your soda bottle, you have to take it home.
Speaking of recycling-what is a good thing to do with old electronics stuff like computer hardware, clock radios, etc.? Nothing with personal information but I sure hate trashing something that may have some salvage value - we are so darned throaway it hurts.
