I seem to have gone into a summer slump and haven't been working with my dogs. Classes won't start up until the fall, and I'm having a tough time being disciplined by myself. Someone give me a kick in the butt, please.

Katie, this is going to be the hard part - for us, more than the doggie. She came through surgery just fine and we brought her home yesterday. She's doing great. Even uses the leg! She just has to be kept calm, and allowed the bare bones minimum activity. Thanks for asking, sleepy head!

You probably know this, but dog people are some of the best people around!
We were able to borrow a large x-pen for indoor use (about 8' long, 48" high)
through someone we don't even know at the local Kennel Club. She even loaned us a ramp for the car so that we can get the dog in and out of the SUV, and said to use it as long as we need it. Her dog, a dobie, went through the same surgery last year, and was able to put our minds at ease about some of the things we're facing, since we had no experience with this at all. Like I said, doggie people are really nice folks.
