.45acp

Federal Hydrashock 230gr. Big, mean, nasty.

Anyone use frangible?

9mm: Hornady Critical Defense 115 gr, Corbon DPX, or Speer Lawman JHP 124 gr.

45 ACP: Corbon DPX+P 185gr. or CorBon Pow-R-Ball 45 ACP+P 165 gr.

There is no magic bullet. Accuracy & location, location, location of hits are key.

^^^^I'm taking an educated guess that because subjects of Britain have no right to keep and bear arms you choose to interject an anti-gun rant instead? It must really stink not to have your country's Constitution recognize the basic human right of self defense. Better a citizen than a subject any day. How is that victimization mentality working for you? What happened to that elderly woman who was charged with assault for defendering herself against a robber/attacker insider her own home with a garden gnome?

Now back on topic: So, if you had the right to keep and bear arms, and chose to practice it lawfully, what carry ammo would you choose?

USA gun deaths 9,369

UK gun deaths 14

Personally, I'd rely on no-one having guns as being the best form of self-defence 'cos the figures above don't lie.

If I'm pushed, I'd pack .50 BMG 'cos bigger is better, no?

Statistics do often lie, yes. The subject here was carry ammo for self-defense, not murder rates.

I believe England has a problem with knife murders has it not? Outlawing guns didn't end murder.

Actually no, bigger does not necessarily = better. Accuracy, shot placement, then the largest caliber one can consistently achieve accurate shot placement. Bigger doesn't matter if you can't hit the target or stop an oncoming lethal threat.

You're insane. Please take your nonsensical ravings elsewhere, they are not welcome here. This is not "Great lack of Debates" forum. You won't be carrying a .50BMG anytime soon for self protection.

of? Myself asking a real question about carry ammunition and you answer with a bunch of stats? If my gun must be employed to kill someone, I don't care if they're using a knife, a bat or a car, my goal is to live while they die. BTW, do you have any stats that ARENT EIGHT years old?

I carry COR-BON Defense JHP in almost every caliber I have. I also use Speer Gold Dot sometimes as well. Self-Defense JHP at Dakota Ammo - COR®BON/Glaser Self Defense and Tactical Gear
