You need that full length guiderod tool to get it out. There is no way to compress the recoil spring, hold it compressed with your fingers, and pull it out of the slide without one on a bull barrel 1911. They are bushingless and can vary in design. Someone who already own a Kimber Ultra Carry should already know that. You need the paperclip or that tiny wire tool or it's not coming out.
