On the ak-47 versus ar-15 issue I am going to vote for the AR-15. The AK-47 is stone reliable but I used to be able to consistently hit a man sized target with my m-16 at 300 yards.
Of course ammo is cheaper for an AK-47. I guess it's like coke versus pepsi.
I personally wouldn't go with the kel-tec it kind of seems like a reinvention of the wheel. It may or may not be a great rifle but the AR and AK have both been well tested.

That is a good point. I am also concerned about the availabilty of parts ala' the Kel-tec, as some of y'all have brought up. The AR series, it would stand to reason I would think, will generally have parts available in some form or fashion. Such might not be true about the Kel-tech...?

Range report...Remington R-25 .243. OHHHH YEA. I mounted my sons 4x16 BSA on the picatinny rail and put it on paper at a 25 yard zero, then moved to 200 yards and fired for effect. . Ammo was Remington 100 grain core lokt SP. This rifle I can highly recommend! trigger was just a tad on the heavy side (estimate around 6 pnds) but it's a new gun and will "shoot in". Accuracy was at the 1/2 MOA mark (impressive) and the extra ooomp of the .243 was very apparent. If an AR type rifle is in your future check this one out. It was on the spendy side at 1500 bucks but if you are going to take your shooting seriously it's worth it Coyotes beware!!!!

Another neat thing about the AR is that you can have one comlete lower reciever but have more than one upper because of the way it easily breaks into two parts.

Here are a couple of very good sites that might help:

www.m4carbine.net

M4 has a high density of very experienced pro's who know M4's and AR's.
Very work gun oriented and not much tolerance for phonies or bad info.
New people who want to learn are welcome.

www.theakforum.net

AK Forum is mainly a hobby site but is very high quality and quite well moderated.
Check out Practical Kalash.

Hope this helps.
