How bout them varmint hunters out there. What do you hunt? Gear, calls, techniques ,riflesetc. My son and I have been out after yotes and feral dogs a lot lately. Our most efective call here in the valley seems to be the house cat distress on our Stewart electronic call. They come running to it! I've been using our 788 Rem in .243 a lot and my son uses his LR .308 quite a bit. I'm going to switch up to my Marlin Cowboy .45 Colt as our shots seem to be getting closer in and the scope is a handicap. We made a blind out of reeds and old cooler pads that works great. Blends right in to the tumbleweeds and was way cheap to make. We get the occasional bobcat comeing in as well as kit and grey foxes too. Any one else enjoy this challenging hobby?
Very good. Now in the spring time go out in the woods where deer and elk are. And use the same setup except for calls use deer fawn bleets and elk calf mews. Do this in a medow or spot you think the deer and elk might hide the littleones when they are off eating. If you can use a visiual aid also. Be ready, if its the right spot. Coyotes,Bear,Mountain Lion,Fox,Eagles/Hawks will come a running!!!
I use a weatherby 223 and a mossberg `12 gauge. I dont spring hunt alone in the mountains.
