I'm new to this discussion forum, but I'm involved in the hair industry. I wanted to open up a quick discussion to get everyone to share a bit on their hair challenges and what everyone has tried doing in order to resolve them. I look forward to learning more about everyone.
I think I have a shampoo addiction. My stylist told me in order to get the most out of my hair color I need to wash in cool water and not shampoo everyday. I've been trying to go one or two days a week without, but it's tough! Maybe I need some good dry shampoo.
@Annie53 Yeah I just read a bit about menopause and HRT. Is that the only thing you were taking to deal with that symptom?
@Strawberrykiki Yeah it's hard to stop using shampoo often especially when you get that refreshing feeling. However, you should also get a really good conditioner. How are the existing hair products you're using now working for you?

I took the HRT to stop hot flashes......about a year or so after I stopped the HRT.....the texture of my hair went to hell.
I have tried different shampoos and conditioners. So far, Paul Mitchel Awapuhi Wild Ginger with Keratin has helped the most.....but it seems like it is not as effective as it was in the beginning.
I need to try some different products.....but that is hard to do.....you have to buy full size, expensive stuff.....only to find out it doesn't work and you just threw away a good chunk of money. I wish they all offered trial sizes.
My hair isn't abused either......I will be 60 in September and my hair is still brown.....with about a dozen scattered grays on top. I only blow dry my hair about once a week too..... and I never use hot irons or anything. I wear my hair long, a couple inches below my shoulders, with bangs.
Grrrrrrr, my biggest problem is that my very thick, coarse hair (neither of which issue is actually the problem) is WAVY rather than CURLY. If it was curly, I could let it do it's own thing and just condition the heck out of it. But it's got this ridiculous wave pattern to it. It's so bizarre that I took a picture of it to show my daughter the other day. Here is my hair after just allowing it to air dry naturally - oh, and this is WITH a heavy duty leave in conditioner in it:
I am really going through some hair drama right now. I'm trying to let it grow out again after keeping it short for about 15 years. When it's short, it does well because it's under control, but I'm sick of keeping it short. When it's long it also does well because the weight holds it down and it is easy to style - it is actually very pretty once it gets below my shoulders. BUT DANG IT, it's that in between stage that I'm trying to survive - knowing that my hair will look ridiculous for at least a year is hard!
^^ I actually think your hair is really pretty. Personally, I have always found wavy hair more beautiful than curly hair.
