They had a game of zombie tag yesterday. It started out as a low key facebook game, but once the city got word of course it became news worthy. I saw some clips on the news this am, and it looked like a lot of fun. They said only about 2500 of the expected 7-10K showed up. You have your own zombie apocalypse to survive soon during your 30 days of night LOL

It was a lot of fun and although I did not get to participate in the actual game ( I arrived about 20 minutes after it had started), it was a great and lively place to be; reminiscent of a bigger cities midtown type of event. Lots of people to talk to on the street, everyone was real friendly and there were plenty of police on bicycles (for anyone who was really worried about security). The Boot was a really cool bar/hang out spot that I'm sure got a huge business boost for that one night (and now that I know about it and have been there, I would def have to say I would go back again).

Overall, the event was pretty successful and it was just a really good atmosphere in general. Me and a friend walked the streets for awhile, talking to various people, had a few drinks at The Boot and eventually found our way to an Ihop near the area. It was what living in a city should be like and hopefully Norfolk takes note of this and more and more events pop up like this. perhaps we could even do something similar to what Sacramento does in that every second Saturday they host an art gallery type of event and everyone from the city just comes out, looks at art and hits the local pubs for a good time.

Hampton Roads doesn't have to be boring for young people or old people! I saw people from all age groups out there too.

I just got in from SF yesterday morning, so I couldn't officially participate, but my friends and I all went down there and checked it out. It was pretty cool. Apparently the guy who won did the entire course in 6 minutes or something. It was fun just walking around and seeing everyone, especially on Colley Ave and Colonial (at Cogan's). After awhile, it felt more like a neighborhood-wide block party. And like Upsilon said, everyone seemed to be friendly, and I don't know of anyone getting hurt or anything. I'd say it was a success.

It was pretty cool. Hopefully more people will dress up as zombies next time. Most of the survivors were turned to zombies in the first hour due to running ala 28 Days Later/ Dawn of the Dead remake instead of lumbering. (heck its 2 hand tag anyway). One guy dressed as Waldo and another person as Gumby (Lol!) Cant wait til next year =)

Please call Norfolk and inform them that they are not to do anything like this without me again. Thank you.
