My wife and I are relocating from New York City, have a 1-year daughter and are 40 and 33 years old, looking to spend between $250,000 and $400,000 on a home. In researching the greater NN area online, we are potentially intereted in Hilton Village in Newport News, Smithfield, Yorktown and Williamsburg. They each seems to have their own attractive attributes. From what I can tell Newport News schools do not appear as good, but Hilton Elementary School seems to be highly rated and the area appears to have nice, affordable homes walking distance to restaurants, ect. Yorktown appears to have good schools and neighborhoods (Kiln Creek, Running Man, Grafton, etc.) Williamsburg the same (Kingsmill in particular for commuting to NN), I am just not sure if it more geared toward retirees as opposed to families with young children. I have read good things about Smithfield as well, and the commute over the James River Bridge seems straightforward and easy. Being new to the area, any thoughts from others would be much appreciated as there appear to be many good options. Thanks

I like the Kingsmill area. I'll have to let someone from Smithfield answer that question.

Thanks, we ended up finding a place in Kingsmill. We like the area and what Williamsburg has to offer and the commute to Newport News is a quick 35 minutes on 1-64.
