I remember thinking it was odd that VB was represented by a popular Democrat congressman in Owen Pickett for a long time (& Mayor Oberndorf, who was technically not party affiliated, but not Conservative).. but Virginia Democrats used to be more Conservative than the national mean average.
I think Bill Clinton won VB tho, because of the 3 way race in 92.. some one may be able to confirm or refute this with a link tho..
Don't disagree. It flip flops with a conservative bent which hardly makes it the conservative stronghold which might make some reluctant to live there. Had it been some type of right wing stronghold, it would not have gone blue in 2017 and 2018 (we have off year elections for governor).
