My parents are looking for an upscale condo neighborhood within a golf course community. We drove through Heron's Ridge, and it is much too far out for them (too far from downtown Norfolk, from us in Chesapeake).
They do not really want a mcmansion, but they do want a newer, upscale condo. Any ideas?
They have looked at Eagle Point in Chesapeake and like that okay, but they want more of an upscale neighborhood.

They are building them all around Cypress Golf Course on Weslyan Drive near the college. There are also some that may be for sale near HoneyBee Golf Course in Virginia Beach.

Signature at West Neck.......it is a 55 and over community that boarders the Arnold Palmer golf course. They would have their choice of single family, town home or condo style homes to choose from. This neighborhood flows into Indian River Plantation which is a very upscale neighborhood.

Isn't this close to Heron's Ridge? I thought that was really far away in regards to downtown Norfolk. Is it close to an interstate?

Ok not sure you have your neighborhoods correct.....Herons Ridge is a golf course community but I dont know of any condos that surround that neighborhood. Herons Ridge is off of Seaboard Rd.

The Signature at West Neck neighborhood is off of Indian River Rd between West Neck and North Landing Rd

I am not sure what Calhoon Plantation has to offer in Chesapeake...you may want to give that a try...but I dont know if any of the devopment has the 55 and over rule

Thanks, rtandc. I just looked it up on yahoo maps and they are fairly close to each other, relatively speaking. Both in southern VB. I think my parents would like the properties down there, but they are also symphony buffs and love the arts. I think getting into downtown Norfolk for them (they are in their 70's) would be a little hectic. I keep gently suggesting Cahoon Plantation but they just don't need a mcmansion. And even though it's not a golf course community, I think Riverwalk is really nice and centrally located for an older couple.
They'll be here in May checking things out. I'll suggest West Neck and we'll take a drive out there to see what they think. They are also big golfing buffs. They will have to weigh things out.
