From the threads that I have read, there seems to be a split between career military folks who love HR, the locals and non-military transplants who say it is not a good area to raise a family. But, from my own research, the public schools in the HR area sound better than around Fayetville, NC (there are position at Fort Bragg I am considering). Anyway, thanks for responding to my post.

Actually, Hampton Roads is a pretty good place to raise a family. Pretty safe, good schools, decent quality of life, very suburban bedroom community feel. The problem is affording it, and you wont have a problem at all with that.

Ha I hear ya... I will always be a Mainah.. but most would NEVER guess I am from Maine... because I dont have the accent...never really did even when I lived there... WELL correction I do if I am with my entire family... It kinda creeps up on me and before I know it holy hats... It is contagious....add a beer and some lobster and instant Maine accent....hahahaahha!!

I am headed up for a visit in a few weeks... Hoping the rain is gone and the sun comes out.. Would love to hit Popham or Reid!
