As much as i like my hometown of Hampton, my favorite city in HR is Norfolk. I just love downtown Norfolk. My second favorite city is Newport News.

I actually like all of Hampton Roads the same.

The only city in Hampton Roads I dont think much of is Suffolk. Not to say i dislike Suffolk or think it's bad but to me doesnt seem anything special.

Yeah, I honestly never would've guessed that.

For me:

1. VB (b/c I live there and so do most of the people I hang out with)
2. Norfolk is a close second. I kinda switch back and forth.

The rest are all tied for 3rd.

How is Newport News winning. It's 3rd on my list. Hampton is only good for the Coliseum, Portsmouth is only good for High St. and being connected to downtown Norfolk by ferry, and Suffolk is only known for some good ol' farming, haha JK Suffolk. They have a lot of industry in Suffolk

I prefer Norfolk because it is to me the original central city of the whole metro with a dense but somewhat small for its size downtown area. I do like the idea of a big mall downtown too. Also has some nice old neighborhoods such as Ghent. I still am saddened when I look at pictures of the city in the 30's through the 50's and think what it might be like now. But oh well.

Virginia Beach, because it is more city the other cities. However, it is still very boring.

I would almost be surprised about Newport News being in the lead if I didn't know firsthand how the city has everything.

What's sad is that the first time I moved to Newport News, I had a friend who would never come over to my place because I lived in *gasp* Newport News and she still had the stereotype of Newport News being all drugs and gangsters and shootings. Then I quasi-forced her stay up with me for a night and she got to see the loveliness of it. Once she got over her fear, I showed her that almost all of the shootings were on the lower-east end. Now, she has no problem with the city.

And, you know, people say Virginia Beach because of the beach? I would love the beaches there if not for the tourists. Good thing I have a beach in Newport News.
