To keep it short, I gotta be in Texas by Thanksgiving weekend. Ive got a townhouse in Ewa Beach that I need to figure out whether to sell or rent, furniture to sell or ship, 4 plane tickets to buy, and one pickup truck to ship; how much money am I looking at just to get off island?

You should be able to figure out how much 4 tics from hono to dallas would be, then add like $1500 to ship your truck. wa-la, you're off the island!

But if you need to count in how much will it cost if you have to ship that furniture, you need to be specific on what and how much furn you have.

How is the market in your area? Is you Ewa townhome "sale ready"?

Why the rush?
You might be able to find a renter on this site!
Good Luck!!

I got selected at another institution for a lateral transfer and I have 6 pay periods to move. Most of the junk I can get rid of on craigslist, but I will be shipping a living room set, dining room set, bedroom set w/ king bed, washer and dryer, and a bunch of tools and a work bench. I may be able to mix it up with a friends military goods when he moves back which would leave me with just plane tickets and shipping the truck. The problem with selling the townhouse is that it is a older unit (1972) down past Campbell HS. Places around mine are harder to sell than the newer cookie cutter homes off Geiger Rd. Last years appraisal was $30k under what I owe as well, so I wont be breaking even if I do sell.

Unless your washer dryer is SUPER top end, I would try to sell it. You can find new goods once you get settled. I think its pretty costly to haul large and heavy items. Boxes are no big deal, but if your stuff is really nice and you don't think you can get good money if you sell it, then I guess you gotta take it.

There might be a way to contact the military housing unit and put your t.h. down as a place they can rent from you, they do the in and out inspections and you are pretty much guaranteed to get paid a good amount monthly, until you sell it.

What if you HATE Texas and want to come back!!!!!!!!

I spent 2 years at Fort Hood, living in Killeen. The only thing I guess I didnt like was the heat, and the electric bill that comes with it from running your AC all day. You get used to it though, Texas is a good state.
