Yes, about 90 seconds after you get your picture taken. Wear your best "dress Aloha" shirt.

The whole process took me about 40 minutes, from front door to leaving with my mew lisence.

Get there BEFORE 9:00
When I went in there were three people in line, when I left there were about 130 !
Here is all you need to know
1) If it's red; stop or dont go that way
2) If its a solid line, dont cross it, unless you have to
3) signal your intentions 100 ft ahead

Why would you need a Hawaii drivers license when you're just here on vacation?

Aloha

Took me about 20 in Hilo, including the 5 minute delay while they reloaded the printer cartridge.

I got there maybe 12:30, and there was nobody in line. YMMV.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, no. It's a little more complicated than that. But if you run through the three free tests on the .gov website you'll be fine.

Aloha
You pick (one or more)
1) I like the pretty rainbow picture / like the neat cut out of the islands in the picture
2) I'm hiding from my ex, so I'm trying to confuse the people tracking me down for alimony
3) Considering moving here. Wife was given an option to work here and I'm interviewing for jobs. (Many of which give preference to residents)
4) I only pay 3% income tax in my home state and I just don't feel like I'm giving enough money to the government.
5) I'm pasty white and have to hide from the sun from 10:00 to 2:30; and I just got bored for things to do.
6) Someone told me not to.

Lets put it this way.
If you can't get the rest of the questions, I'd really rather we didnt share the same road.

But on another subject:
Hawaiians are the NICEST and Most Curtious drivers I have ever had the pleasure to share the road with.

In Philly, if you turn your turn signal on to change lanes the car Immediatly closes any gap. If you really need to change lanes the only way you can do it is start drifting over and play a game of 'chicken' to see if he lets you in. (Oh yeah, and they have guns, which they are happy to brandish for you over any disagreement)

I just can't get over how cool it is here.
I turn on my signal and almost all the time the car in the other lane slows down.
You guys have no idea how freakin' cool this is!
I have to stop myself from just turning on my light and watching a magical gap appear for giggles.
I have to admit, that when I discovered this, the next time my wife was in the car I turned to my wife, said "Watch This!" and changed lanes.

Tenzo, I had to turn in my out-of-state dl when I received the Hawaii license, just wondering if the requirements have changed. And yeah, I like the local-style driving too - I just learned to leave earlier if I had to accomplish anything!

Me too, but there's one thing I still can't get used to... the tourists who slow down in a 55 mph zone when they see the 40 mph minimum speed signs.
