How do you think a Handy Man / Contractor business would do on the island. Hubby does everything plus finish carpentry. I could also do the final staging for the properties. Our personal homes have always sold within 3 to 7 days, even in 2009 in a suburb of Los Angeles.

Thought that hubby could semi-retire but with the COL in Oahu, he might need to start a business.
I think he'd have as much luck here as anywhere else. The economy in Hawaii is doing quite nicely, all things considered!

Hi Tony,

I believe so as well. Especially since we're going to treat it as a business, ie. business plan, professional stationery, marketing material, web site with write-up and photos of past projects.

Of course, DH is lucky that that is what I do to make my nickle in society. ; )

I'm from Amsterdam and people are just more outgoing/friendly to strangers. That's what I love about the Islands, the kindness/goodness you feel when walking around and interacting with the locals. Might you we don't hang out at the tourist attractions, but like to eat/hang out where the regulars are. No matter where we travel.

...the big question is still Oahu or Maui...we're starting over, but how relaxed do we want to take it - that's the question.

From the way folks are advertising on Craigslist, your location paper, talking to local realtors in Waikiki/Honolulu. Just the feed back. Nothing about Hawaii, same problem in So. Cal, Las Vegas, Augusta, it's the industry types that normally are done on the side.

If you are a contractor/handyman doing all of the above, kudo's to you! No disrespect! R
