Actually, looking at the global map, different dynamics are at work. Keep in mind is that the global map lumps together all kinds of circumcision, whereas there are several different types with quite different motivations behind them.

Adolescent "coming of age" circumcision is practiced in many tribal cultures as part of blood-letting rituals marking the onset of puberty. And the "amount" of circumcision performed varies widely, from minor nicking or slitting of the foreskin to, less commonly, full removal. I'd say this type is a key reason so much of Africa is purple on this map, in addition to Muslim practice in the same areas.

Circumcision is performed by religious Muslims at various ages, depending on local tradition, because the practice is not delineated in the Quran. In some cultures it is done at 7 years, in others at 7 days, in others as late as 15 years. The World Health Organization estimates that 70% of the circumcised men in the world are Muslims.

Infant circumcision is performed by religious Jews on the 8th day after birth, according to the command to do so in Leviticus, in a ceremony before family and friends. It is considered by them to be a mark of the covenant (agreement) between God and the Jews. In historic times the circumcision was originally only partial, but around 2,000 years ago it was changed to full removal which is followed today, in order to prevent "adult reversal" practices that were being used by Jews trying to be assimilated into Greek and Roman cultures where the "differences" were immediately visible at the public baths.

The history in South Korea is unique. Circumcision was virtually unknown there until the end of World War II, when people started emulating American servicemen. Today it is actually more common there than in the US, adult circumcision is perhaps more common than infant, and it's almost universal among Christian men.

Finally, circling back to the US, as I posted previously, it caught on as an offshoot of the "anti-sex" movements of the repressed Victorian age, acquired some pseudo-medical justifications to buttress the practice, but began to fall into decline when Pediatricians began qualifying or withdrawing their endorsements of the practice after studies showed the medical value to be dubious.

So, not all da same kine!

The Hawaiian operation is, strictly speaking, not circumcision at all. The prepuce is merely slit up from its free edge or lip to the line of its attachment to the penis. The operation is still occasionally practiced by the Hawaiians

Probably brought to the Philippines from the U.S., as it use to be an American colony about 100 years ago. The U.S. fully brought much of the rest of it's culture - i.e. guns and installed the exact same type of Education system used in the States at that time, and brought it to the Philippines, still using the same way today.

So, I'm sure circumcision was also something instituted there from the U.S.

Fortunately, not often.

Unfortunately, in a couple of the most severe of the known cases, the botched cases resulted in eventual gender reassignment for the unfortunate kids.
