Default Maui

Aloha, As a 12 year resident of Maui here are some thoughts for you to mull over. First; you wouldn't live in anything under $500,000 here. The average is closer to $700,00+. Second, depending on your life style wants, needs and requirements $3,000 is probably not enough for two of you, unless of course (as was mentioned earlier) all you plan to do is go to the beach. Eating out $50-100/ person at every meal. Gas $4/ gallon. Elec (AC) $250-400/month. etc, etc,. Do yourself a favor- some extensive research.

They don't seem to be taking inflation into account. 50? Gosh! she's got another 30 years at least on this old planet. I'm 61 and disabled. What I wouldn't give to be able to work. If she feel old now in 11 years with nothing to occupy the mind, sheWILL be ancient.
My final word is GO FOR IT but find an occupation. If not Therapy, then some new challenge. 3K a month is nothing in today's world without a big alteration in comfort and lifestyle. At 50 I was running circles around kids half my age. At 54 I apprenticed myself to a chef. At 58 I was dx'ed with MS. It's been a challenging decade. Can you honestly say what the next 30 will bring? I'll ask again, is this a fixed income or are there growable assets?

i believe it depends on the condo association. also, they are required to have a reserve account. how much that is, i don't know and can't remember because we sold ours so long ago. you'd have to ask a realtor that question.

50 is by far old, my friend. there is so much more living to do!

have a good one!

lol!...that may be what they say but no matter how you try to rationalize it your life is divided into three equal segments: youth 0-25; middle age 26-49; old age 50-75...i am now 60 and have no delusions about it being anything but 60...that's why i wanna start wintering (illinois resident) somewhere on the hawaiian islands as soon as possible...life ticks by much faster as you enter the old age segment...ask anybody who's there already and they will verify this.

oh, oh! you said you were going to be 50. now you are saying you are 60?! if, "life ticks by much faster as you enter the old age segment" we're definitely in trouble. you just aged 10 years in the last several days! lol. 50, 60: still young! i've heard that people live longer in hawai'i so you have a ways to go, no?! once retired, come on over here, "slow down, you're moving too fast. gotta make the morning last....feeling groovy".

is this a serious statement?...if it is, it's shocking!...even in manhattan there are plenty of places where you can get something decent to eat for $20 or less per person, especially if you bypass expensive drinks.

oops! sorry for the mix up joe! you can definitely eat out for $20 or less per person. as with any where else, it depends on the type of food and/or restaurant.

once again, sorry for error.
