The only thing that comes to mind as "local" would be plate lunches. I don't consider Thai, Japanese, Filipino, etc. local, and I've had those cuisines on the mainland.

I hate plate lunches (chicken katsu, etc.) in most cases. Greasy, fatty food with rice.

I do like it when they use good cuts of meat and have good sides (not rice, not mac), but none come to mind.

I agree. Plate lunch = mystery meat. A heart attack waiting to happen.

Just look at the size of the folks at L&L. Just saying.

Haha! That was funny, I never even noticed that. It would seem he would be a "senior member". I've never seen anyone as a "large member".

I try not to eat too many plate lunches due to health reasons. A lot of places offer brown rice as an option which I always choose. Just looking at that picture has me thinking of diabetes.

Okay it looks like for the most part local food means plate lunch if not please correct me on that.

The leads me to the other thing I'm curious about, traditional Hawaiian food for the most part my understanding is that some of the important ingredients include taro, pork and fish. I have heard of Kalua pork but I'm not sure if that's traditional Hawaiian. Can someone tell me about traditional Hawaiian food and tell me what restaurants they would recommend.
