Is the competition very high? What IT job skills are in demand? I hear IT job market is an exception to a very tight overall job market there.
That is quite an open-ended question as each island is different.
Also need to consider private vs. public sector/military.
If you are on Oahu and are a highly experienced open source/.net programmer - experienced network engineer/database administrator - Business Analyst - etc, you'll likely find a position relatively quickly.
I'm interested in County, Municipality, State, educational , and private sector. It is concerning that when I do a search using same keyword in any of major IT job search engine, Honolulu typically pulls up about 10, definitely less than 20, where as in most mainland urban areas, it pulls up about 200 to 300 openings per keyword. May I humbly get some clarifications that honolulu IT jobs market is competitive to mainland IT job market? Is there a local Honolulu IT job search engines that people are not aware of on mainland?
