It’s a hearty read for a Saturday morning but the State report on climate change has a good executive summary section.

https://climateadaptation.hawaii.gov...rt_Dec2017.pdf

It is a given that this does not just affect Hawaii but does this play into anyone’s long term plans about starting a business or living in low lying areas yet?

I wonder if now is the time to visit many of the beautiful coastal areas before they are rotated or potentially damaged beyond recognition.

A lot of the shoreline properties would be destroyed beyond recognition when the winter swell comes in November. If the shoreline is not hardened, usually it will be restored in March/April.

Global warming which leads to rise of sea level is indeed a problem. Many new subdivisions have a new setback requirement of 60 feet.

Global warming is a problem. Likely not in our lifetimes to visit coastal areas “beyond recognition”

Even though the overall sea level rise process will happen over decades, with every degree increase in ocean temps, there's an increasing probability of a category 4-5 hurricane making landfall with unprecedented storm surge and wave height.

Hawaii is trying to prepare itself but there is no question that everyone should have their own plan in case of natural disaster. Part of the "Paradise Tax" is knowing that you're walking on the tops of volcanoes and you might have to bug out on short notice.

Does anyone still buy into this bilge?

Those of us who believe in science do.

You can chose to put your head in the sand if you wish.

You've been duped by faux-science. I've been following this "issue" for 3 decades.

In which case your head is buried in something other than sand.

I’m a scientist by education and work experience. The ”evidence” is arguable at best and yes, I’ve read BOTH sides like I always do. There might indeed be global warming but there is strong data to support the fact that it has happened repeatedly throughout the millennia; mankind certainly, and CO2 for that matter, appeared to have nothing to do with it.
