Now that Trump finally says wear a mask - isn't the debate moot at this point.

How about people who died in car accidents and were positive? Were they counted as Covid deaths?
Maybe not car accidents - but how about motorcycle accidents?

https://cbs12.com/news/local/man-who...florida-report

According to the report, Orange County Health Officer Dr. Raul Pino was asked whether two coronavirus victims in their 20s had any underlying medical conditions that could have potentially made them more susceptible to the virus.

Pino's answer was that one of the two people who was listed as a COVID death actually died in a motorcycle crash. Despite health officials knowing the man died in a motorcycle crash, it is unclear whether or not his death was removed from the overall count in the state.

Dr. Pino tells FOX 35 that one "could actually argue that it could have been the COVID-19 that caused him to crash."

There is a lot of cases like this nationwide. It doesn't matter if they died by jumping off a bridge, if they had pneumonia and already on breathing support, etc. If it was discovered they had covid, it counts as a covid death

At minimum it is an urban legend that is currently circulating.

Pretty difficult to determine if it is true or a widespread issue.

To me, the bottom line is, would they still be alive today if they hadn't contracted Covid-19?

I just don’t see how a motorcycle crash that killed you means you’d be alive without Covid.

It's obvious the statistic is being over reported and a widespread issue since federal guidelines is to report ALL covid positive deaths as covid. And doesn't even consider the fact that many cases are asymptomatic, so covid not likely to even contribute to cause of death. If you're dying of breast cancer or a heart attack and are asymptomatic covid, your death is counted as covid.

In Colorado, the discrepancy over people dying with COVID-19 versus of COVID-19 is due to federal reporting guidelines requiring the health department to report any COVID-positive death to the CDC, even if COVID-19 wasn’t thought to cause the death,

I didn't suggest otherwise. Did you notice that my response was to Rya's post, not yours?

I saw on national news that a group of researchers had done a study comparing overall deaths this year with several previous years. Their finding was that the U.S. death count was up by more than 200,000 for the period since Covid started.

They concluded that Covid deaths are probably being undercounted.

(Note: I believe this was taken from the New York Times, but I'm not positive.)

Starting to look at furloughs again: 10% pay cut for 3 years. Also looking to claw back recent raises. My opinion, this is just the tip of the iceberg if the Feds don't bail out states
