On 1/29/2020 I went to Price Chopper and spoke with a pharmacist who was to refill my prescription of
Trulicity for 90 days. I take it once a week.

After I left the pharmacy and was driving home I received a phone call from the pharmacist telling me,
" If I fill the 90 day supply we will be losing money. Would you mind buying a one month supply instead of the 3 months supply?"

Not wanting to cause a hardship on Price Chopper, not thinking of any repercussions this decision might have, even though it will be an inconvenience for me and no pharmacy has ever told me this before, I said, "Sure."

In the meantime my income decreased so I had to get a more affordable health insurance. I went back to healthcare.gov and found a more affordable health insurance but it won't start until March 2020.

Now I am needing the Trulicity but cannot get it until March 1st because I have no insurance!
I feel that thee pharmacist obliged me to feel sorry for them.

I had the money and the insurance then but have neither now because of Price Chopper pharmacy.

It's just a big mess. I tried to help and it came back to bite me.
I'll have to go a week without the medication.

Am I wrong to be perturbed about this?
Thank you.

You need to blame the pbms. For many brand name drugs, it is not in the pharmacy's financial interest to fill. I have many in which I loose $20 or more for a one month supply. Sometimes you will break even for a 30 day but loose significant sums for a 90 day.

If eligible, perhaps this will help, from the manufacturer.

Thank you, genesiss23. I never knew about PBM's.
BOBNCHI, I'm using the Trulicity card you referred to in your post.
Basically, the Trulicity doesn't go through my insurance. BUT you have to have insurance in order to use it.
Since I have no insurance at this time I can't use the card (get my prescription filled.)
Who in the world do I contact about my dilemma?
Thank you both for your help.

The manufacturer of Trulicity has a charity program. It's made by Lilly. They have the Lilly Cares program. https://www.lillycares.com/aboutlillycares.aspx

You will need to read through the rules to see if you qualify. It can take a few weeks for the application to be processed. The issue is you will have coverage on March 1. It may take them longer to process it than waiting the week.

I would recommend you review coverage on your new policy to see if the drug is covered. There are other drugs in the same category ie Victoza and Bydureon

You can use the copay card if you don't have insurance. It has to be processed as primary and sometimes they have a different group number. It says they will cover up to $150.

Yes, the drug is covered under my insurance.
I'll be okay. I was just wanting to know if any governmental agency cares that this is going on.

How would a government agency be able to predict that you would change insurance plans right at this moment? I'm sure they are aware it can happen and someone does care, but every consumer's situation is different. Makes it hard to come up with a solution tailor-made to solve the problem for you. Sounds like you'll be fine. You might also call the health provider who prescribed this for you and explain the gap. They may have an interim solution or a supply on hand.

Parnassia,
On my OP I was only wanting to know if it is wrong for me to be peeved at the pharmacist who suggested I only get a one month prescription because a 90 day would cause them to lose money.
Then other posts added and viola.
I'm sure you are right that every consumer's situation is different. I was only wanting feedback on mine.
