I was told today that Medicare would pay for this as long as I got a single line bifocal glasses. Is this true?

It doesn't specifically reference bifocals, but here is what it says on Page 39 of the "Medicare & You" 2021 book about Part-B covered services:

Eyeglasses (after cataract surgery)
Medicare covers one pair of eyeglasses with standard frames (or one set of contact lenses) after each cataract surgery that implants an intraocular lens. You pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount, and the Part B deductible applies.
Note: Medicare will only pay for contact lenses or eyeglasses provided by a Medicare-enrolled supplier, whether you or your provider submits a claim.

I just got cataract surgery and started checking into this. It does not appear that Medicare pays for bifocal glasses

Medicare also doesn’t cover eyeglass “extras” like bifocals, tinted lenses, scratch resistant coating, or any contact-lens accessories.
I also have no luck in finding a Medicare approved supplier of eye glasses in my area. My cataract surgeon told me that Eye Mart Express accepted Medicare but when I went there, they only accept Medigap insurance with Vision Coverage which I don't have.

I called around several places and could not find one which accepts Medicare.

Since I need bifocal which is not covered by Medicare and I would have to do a lot of checking to find a place which accept Medicare, I decided not to bother with the process.

I ordered 3 pairs of glasses from Zenni Optical: bifocal, single vision for reading and single vision for computer. The total cost with shipping is $42.80.
