If you are not overweight, you are exercising regularly, you have cut back on the salt, and your pressures are still elevated at home over multiple readings on different days, you need to ask your doctor about starting medication. If you are significantly overweight, Consider medication, but even a small weight loss may make it possible to eventually come off the med.
