Last Wednesday at 8;30 am i felt a bit funny kinda like virtigo and i couldnt focus on anything, the feeling passed after an hour only to return on Thursday for a longer period of time same for Friday and now Saturday i'm seeing double all the time to the point where i cant drive as its just too distracting,
Not sure why it came on so suddenly as i havent changed any of my Diabetic drugs for over a year, had no head trauma incidents, no pain,no pressure, both eyes seem to have normal vision independently they just wont focus together. got a doctors appointment on Monday, was wondering if any one else has experienced sudden onset of double vision..
For my part, I wouldn't debate the question - I'd get to an ER ASAP. Never mind what it might be, you need to find out what it is. There are a few things in life that can wait until Monday - this is not one of them.
A trip to the emergency room on Sunday had the doctor diagnosing a condition akin to Bells Palsey of the eye muscles, Binocular diplopia is the resulting condition, did the CT scan and the MRI scan and no other problems were found, Doc says its probably related to my Diabetes and may take up to a few weeks or a few months to get back to normal, he also says driving is not advisable, so i'm now grounded indefinitely
Mmmm-you say you have diabetes but don't mention if you have high BP or cholesterol.
My first thought was that the first episodes that came and went sounded like TIAs (TRANSIENT ISCHAEMIC ATTACKS) sometimes called mini strokes. They are stroke warning signs. It sounds like they were affecting the posterior circulation of the brain.
Now, however, if you have the symptoms constantly, it sounds like it may have progressed to a stroke.
I think it's important that you see a neurologist who specialises in stroke ASAP.
You would be amazed at how many strokes are misdiagnosed, especially when they people don't display classic stroke symptoms eg weakness down one side of the body, inability to speak/slurred speech etc
If it is a stroke then need to make sure that any risk factors are correctly managed (the guidelines for acceptable levels for BP, cholesterol etc change if you have had a stroke) to prevent further strokes.
I'd think if i were having a stroke they would have caught it in the trip to the ER,, and i would think symptoms would have shown up in my daily 2 hour work outs,
I have a regular doctors appointment this afternoon I'll mention it to him..
The CT/MRi would have shown a stroke in all liklihood. Just be sure your glucose is low!
