Thanks for the responses. I am male and in my late 40s. It started a little in my early 40s and has become more frequent. I have had a CT scan and radiology exams before but that showed up OK. No strokes or blocked arteries or anything like that and my overall health is good. Maybe it does have something to do with lights. Funny I never got this when I was younger. Sunlight doesn't bother me, in fact, it is a relief to get out of the stores. Glad to know others have a similar problem to this. I will research these other issues mentioned in the thread.
I have had this going back 6 or 7 years. I notice a slight dizziness or lack of balance when I walk into a store, like a grocery store. I will really notice it when I start walking down aisles in a store or walking in a mall. There is almost a fogginess, for lack of a better term, along with it. It usually passes or at least decreases when I am outside but it has been increasing in frequency over the years. I have tried researching this but have found nothing on it.
Anyone ever heard of this bizarre symptom?
I have a Herditary form of Periphiral Neuropathy, have a lot of nerve damage.
I have the same type problem, I believe it is from damage to my cranial nerves. For instance, if I walk into an area with a strong chemical odor I can feel the nerves on my scalp tighten up, can feel a presure below/behind my eyes , sometimes they start tingling and pulsating.
I think that damaged nerves can misfire (react to things that they should not react to) for a variety of reasons, odors being one.

Try to notice if the heating/cooling system is going when this happens. As I mentioned; I get like this after being blasted by it when I walk in the door. If it was from lights; I would think it would happen every time you went in the same store; someone can correct me if I'm wrong. If it doesn't happen all of the time; it could be dust or scent related

This has happened to me a few times at Home Depot, but never at grocery stores. My guess is that is is the off gassing from carpet and other building products.
I get mild vertigo (spinning sensation) or dizziness whenever I get close to certain ventilation systems in different areas of a building. Usually they are in the corners or places that are partially enclosed. I think it has to do with my middle ears sensing the pressure gradient. It passes when I leave the area.
I have had the same problem for many years, when I try to explain the symptoms, people look at me like I am crazy. It does go away after walking around the store. but sometime hits very hard when entering the store, I sometimes have to grab on to something stationary. I have type 2 diabetes and also have neuropathy problems.
I have a difficult time when entering a store also. If I wear sunglasses it doesn't bother me so much.
