I am not allowed to take showers right now due to medical condition so I have not showered or washed my hair for 2 weeks. I am glad to report that I do not have any bodily odors whatsoever, and I do not use deodorant either. I simply wash my face, neck, and nether regions 1x/day and it is fine.
People who sweat, do physical activities, or smell should definitely shower as needed. But I just don't need to at all. Even my feet do not smell after wearing the same socks for 2 weeks.
That all people should shower daily is a total myth. There is no such rule and it is a total waste of water. I am in a desert climate FYI. Look at cats - they don't get washed every day... they just spot clean. Hygiene is about limiting spread of germs so washing of key areas is essential.
I have dense hair, and with all the sweat, if not showered and gelled, it starts to intertwine and looks funky on my head
I also use native Indian shikakai powder in the morning, which offers hair immense rigidity and life, and go to bed with oil soaked in native leaves (don't have an English word for it). They were traditionally practices among the warrior kshatriya clans of ancient India, like in Ramayana or the Mahabharatha and I was taught to uphold these as a kid. Eventually, it boils down to healthy hair. Being bald is so ugly and is considered a bane in my culture, women downgrade men who are bald to second grade status. I am not kidding
except for a medical reason, it is disgusting that some people arent showering daily.
