people here are way too clean! folks, you should be a bit oily, your skin needs that oil. I find it funny esp. when women scrub themselves raw then proceed to slap on tons of lotions to replace the oils they've just scrubbed off in the shower! plus, I think some people highly exaggerate what their BO smells like. if, after a day of not showering, your BO is so funky that it repels people, you have an internal issue that must be fixed. obviously not the case if you work outdoors or exercise. I'm talking basic day-to-day living like sitting at work and home.
I don't shower daily in the winter. FAR too drying!! Don't take baths either for a variety of reasons. the oil your body makes is better than most cheap lotions people use. During the winter, I wash my hair about once every 10 days. My hair is natural and washing it daily would turn it to straw. I use an oil (jojoba, sweet almond, various EO like lavender, peppermint, and/or tea tree) and water spritz daily. I don't use any other products besides oils, all natural shampoos, and a few select all natural deep conditioners
In the summer, I shower daily only b/c of exercise in hot/humid weather. I wash my hair w/ shampoo once a week, but get it wet almost daily (water=best moisturizer). I did go several days w/o showering while I was at an outdoor music festival and not once did my tent mates or anyone else complain (vital areas cleaned w/ baby wipes and sometimes cold water). if need be, say, if I do end up volunteering in a developing nation or am on a very long camping trip, I know I can go much longer than that w/o a shower. I know I won't go into a tizzy if I couldn't get in my 2nd shower of the day
Normally once a day in the morning (every day). I have major bed head when I wake up and I just feel "yucky" in the mornings. I'm also at an age where I'm starting to get night sweats (yep, getting older sucks!) and I need my showers more than ever.
I take a long, hot shower (20 minutes?) every morning and then one, two, or three hot baths with bath salts and essential oils.
I need to bathe frequently for my mental health - not only because of hygiene (I can't tolerate feeling dirty) but to wash off the vibes picked up out in the world . . . hot baths soothe me - hydrotherapy. I am surprised more people do not bathe for the sheer pleasure of hot water on your skin. I just love it!

I average 14 showers a week. Even in winter, I usually take a night shower before bed to feel clean. The summer 2nd shower is more for sweat after walking and or running in the summer sun.
You've just nailed it. Americans bathe (and launder) to FEEL clean, not to BE clean. There is neither a hygienic nor a health benefit to frequent bathing. It's completely psychosomatic.
I'm surprised how many people shower/bathe multiple times a day. I shower once a day, everyday. On rare occasions I'll skip a day. But showering twice a day seems excessive and unnecessary, IMO.
I hope you don't plan on going out without taking a shower. I don't care if you don't stink. Everyone who has a home with running water should be bathing at least once a day. There is no excuse.
Word. I totally agree.
As for me, I don't feel good unless I've showered or bathed that day, so I do. Water is very therapeutic and I like feeling clean.
Honestly, I don't know how those who don't shower every day can stand it. Especially in the summer. Nothing I hate worse then feeling that sticky sweaty thing when it's humid. Ugh. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. A big luxury for me is actually good bars of soap. I like smelling nice.

I workout and run at different times during the day. Usually one in the morning and one in the evening. I don't like being in my sweat for an extended period of time, thus I shower after both. Does that really seem excessive?
I think some people are just not sensitive to how their body feels, the dirt that is picked up from whatever, the absolute sensual pleasure of bathing, or the pleasure of pleasant scents (as opposed to unpleasant odors).
I wonder if the same people who do not like bathing, also don't enjoy other sensual pleasures such as massage, or who-knows?
I imagine the "dirty people" as having other unhealthy habits from substance abuse to dirty homes and cars . . .
