To me beer is a beverage. I do not drink it (or anything else) for the purpose of getting drunk (or a buzz).
Unfortunately, I work *all the time* so my ability to have an alcoholic beverage is limited. Normally, I will have one beer with dinner. However, prior to my opening a business and working all the time, I would drink two or three beers a day/night.
On occasion I will drink a couple of glasses of wine or have a mixed drink. In the summer months I might have a margarita or other "tropical" type mixed beverage.
My philosophy is that drinking alcohol is one of the FEW privileges given to adults so I enjoy that privilege whenever I can.
I go through spurts where I may drink 4 beers 1 day and two the next. Afterwards I will not drink for several days. I really should not drink at all since I am on bp meds, but I am not overdoing it like other folks I encounter. And, they are probably on their own meds. I probably should not have had 4 last night because now I want to to the bar and drink a little and talk to the lovely barmaid Nyssa. I can do 3 and go home and eat.
When I drink socially, I usually only have a single drink - a frozen pina colada. At weddings, I favor kahlua and milk, and can suck down half a dozen of them in a single wedding reception without feeling any different. I'm also dancing most of it off.
The "social drinking" usually occurs twice, possibly three times a year. The "special events" scene is maybe once every four or five years.
Other than that, I enjoy a single nightly glass of sangria when I buy it, and drink just one glass nightly until the bottle is empty. And then, I'll either buy a second bottle, or I won't bother for another month or two.
I used to drink tequila straight out of the bottle - no lime, no salt. I got over that, during my college years.
A glass or two of red wine, maybe four nights a week.
Beer makes me feel bloated.
