About 1.5 years ago I took a handful of Tylenol about 20 pills but nothing happened. Since then I have had bouts of Gout and Exercise Induced Anaphylaxis (deadly allergic reaction).

I did not have these prior to taking the pills. So are they signs of liver damage or failure?

Symptoms of liver diseases/damage include weakness and fatigue, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, and yellow discoloration of the skin (jaundice). The treatment of a particular liver disease depends on its specific cause.
See a doctor and get tested.

talk to your doctor; he/she will do blood work to determine your liver function, but it certainly doesn't sound like you have any problems. Well you do have a problem, but not likely your liver. As wit-nit said discolored shin, fatigue, weakness, nausea, etc are signs of liver damage. There are many other signs as well. 20 Tyenol taken 18 months ago isn't going to hurt you at all.

I doubt it is from a one time event, Usually drug induced liver disease is from either continuous use or a HUGE intake. But:
Drug Induced Liver Disease: Symptoms and Medication Facts

Go to the doctor and stop self-diagnosing. The doctor can easily run labs to check on your liver. ALT, AST and ALP are pretty common tests. They'd probably run albumin, TP and bilirubin as well.

we know nothing about your medical history, age, weight, other illnesses etc, so its very difficult to comment.

however it is not true that taking 20 tylenol tablets 1 1/2 years ago would not cause you problems...if you had been unfortunate, then this could have been sufficient to cause fatal liver failure. depending on your age/weight and general state of health, a single dose of 10g of acetaminophen (20 x 500mg tablets) can be fatal in adults.

if you have concerns or symptoms, you really ought to see a physician, who can check the state of your liver function pretty easily by doing some simple blood tests.

regarding your statement about suffering from gout and exercise induced anaphylaxis, have these actually been confirmed by a physician, or is this just your own diagnosis - the second of these is particularly unusual.

yes, op needs to see his doctor, no, 20 Tylenol that long ago would not have caused liver failure and he/she doesn't seem to have any true liver disease symptoms. The most important thing, it is fine to get on these threads and ask questions, but it is more important to see a doctor and not try to diagnose ourselves via a computer.

i'm not sure i understand your reasoning - it is incorrect to say 20 tylenol "would not have caused liver failure" - such a dose has caused fatal hepatic impairment in the past, and, sadly, will do so again in the future.

in this particular incidence, which occurred some time in the past, it is obviously evident that fatal hepatic impairment did not ensue - however that does not necessarily mean that there is not some residual hepatic injury, even if the OP is showing no frank signs of liver impairment. it should be noted, though, that often there is a pretty severe degree of hepatic injury before overt symptoms manifest themselves.

thankfully, the liver has a pretty remarkably capacity to repair itself, and the majority of survivors of acetaminophen overdose make a full recovery.

OP, did you go to the hospital after you took that overdose? Were you trying to kill yourself? I have heard that in the ER they give N-acetyl-cysteine for tylenol overdose, but you can take that at home yourself to undo liver damage as well. Also, if you were trying to commit suicide, I do hope you've gotten help for that.
