Wouldn't it work to take a daily dose of anti biotics to ward off the flu instead of getting a flu shot that usually doesn't work because the the flu virus changes?
Beacuse influenza is a virus. Antibiotics are not effective in treating viral infections. If you take antibiotics when it's not needed leads to a resistance, meaning stronger infections.

It can also be dangerous to take antibiotics if you don't need them, or if you are infected with a virus rather than a bacteria. If you're sick with a virus, the chance of you developing a rash goes up when taking certain antibiotics, and as mentioned it does nothing to viruses like influenza (flu). You might also be allergic to an antibiotic, might suffer side effects like diarrhea from taking it or more serious side effects if we're talking the heavy duty antibiotics like Vancomycin, and most importantly you could breed antibiotic resistant bacteria if you needlessly expose yourself to the stuff. So it's best not to risk taking an antibiotic unless it's truly necessary.

Antibiotics are not even used to treat the flu, the flu is a viral infection...plus using too many antibiotics will reduce your bodies ability to fight off infections and will cause antibiotics, when needed, not to work as well.
