I had the flu 15 years ago and took Tamiflu. I was still ill for a week. I had nausea and vomiting before I took the Tamiflu, I think that was part of the flu. I did not have any suicidal thoughts, I was just exhausted from being ill and slept a lot.

I had the swine flu a few years ago and it wasn't nearly as bad...three days of fever, nothing else. I took ginger capsules for nausea and ibuprofen to bring down the fever, and I was fine.

Tamiflu been around since 15 years ago? Wao, no joke. They must make a lot of money from it, since it so expensive and millions around the world are all taking this drugs.

It was a new thing back then, it cost $110. I was sick as a dog before I took it though, kept passing out on the bathroom floor.

You have to start taking TamiFlu the first 48 hours after showing symptoms for it to be any good. After that, it is a waste of money.

Got my son to the doctor on day two. Two days later he was returning to school. It can be a miracle drug. If you can't afford to miss more than a couple of days of work, the cost is worth it. If you are at risk of further complications, the cost can be worth it.

Took it once, no problems. It did what it was supposed to do.

We dropped it after the first couple of doses. Fortunately, the flu was over by then.

Be aware, Tamiflu is very powerful medicine. I think if I ever have the choice again I'd skip it.

I was put on Tamiflu in the past month because my symptoms I had were the flu, but the test was negative. I never experienced any of the stuff the first poster mentioned, but only in the last couple of weeks I have had shortness of breathe along with coughing and wheezing. Could this be associated with taking the Tamiflu meds~? AND DANG IT IS EXPENSIVE~!

I was prescribed Tamiflu three years ago when I foolishly delayed getting a flu shot and was hard hit about ten days before Christmas. I had activities planned for that time which got cancelled and was distressed about that, but Tamiflu did shorten the duration and possibly the intensity of the flu, and I don't recall any adverse affects at all that I could attribute to Tamiflu.

My flu symptoms were very sudden onset, intense weariness not relieved by sleep or rest, moderate fever, loss of appetite, and a deep productive cough which fortunately did not develop into bronchitis or pneumonia. I had some achiness and lost nine pounds in nine days. I was not nauseated - tried to take the Tamiflu with food - but nothing tasted good except Halo oranges. I made a point of staying hydrated - lots of tea and ginger ale and Halos. Little else, though, mostly scrambled eggs with cheese to try to keep some protein in my system.

It was a terrible time to be sick and I was upset about missing Christmas and being alone and sick that day, but did recover enough to participate in after-Christmas activities on a limited basis. It was another six days or so before I regained my normal energy, though I was no longer infectious.

So if you are diagnosed with the flu, by all means take Tamiflu, if time permits. If you feel blue or discouraged, perhaps awareness that your illness is likely to blame or that this may be a side effect which will pass, not a permanent state, will help keep it in perspective. Nausea can also be combatted by taking Tamiflu after a light meal or by taking anti-nausea meds afterwards.

The flu of three years ago was far less lethal than is this year's strain, so do what you can to protect yourselves and those you love. Tamiflu may be part of that protection.

Major difference between Children and Adults. Go look at those OTC Medications. Some specifically say not to be given to children under the age of 12.

This is not a One Size Fits All, if anything ever is. I say this as a 5'1", 98 lb. woman who takes Kids Dosages, and has been over-medicated by doctors.

Be careful with your little ones.
