Hi, not sure where to put this but anyone use red wine to suppress eating? I tried today & after a few glasses I seem far less hungry? I don't know my current bld sugar, so wonder if it lowers insulin for the day or raises? If lowers, then it is a good way to reduce the load on pancreas. I go long as can til needing food, & have liquid type diet of whey protein or yogurt til I'm not hungry. I know it is nuts but if it lowers things then so be it.

Anyone comment?
What do you mean by "a FEW glasses?" How many? It is not wise to drink on an empty stomach. You becomen inebriated much quicker. Wine does lower blood sugar, but in diabetics like myself, can just postpone the blood sugar spike. When you drink alcohol the liver considers it a PRIORITY to process and get it out of your system before it will do anything else. I do love my wine, but limit it to two glasses a day with FOOD (dinner).
Bottom line it is not healthy to do what you are doing (using wine to suppress hunger). I do what you do regarding the whey shakes or protein to suppress my appetite and those work beautifully.
Hi all, back again as I see a few good posts here. 1st, I drink maybe 2 glasses prior to eating as it seems to slow amount of food I'd eat. But you're right re: bld sugar drop & liver response. I just got into a habit now & mentally it seems to work. It may be placebo but I really think the wine has a function in some weird way. I know, I'm my own study, but if anyone feels this way that'd help validate or eradicate the results I think occur. Ok, thx to all replying so far.
Wine does not make me hungry. Beer and liquor do though. I can eat whilst drinking wine, but wine in itself does not make me want food.
Agreed. Thx for letting me know I'm not crazy.
