I don't like the sparkling water options because of the sodium. They taste salty to me, especially once they go flat.
I drink decaf green tea and sweeten mine with Splenda. The cheapest option is Wal-Mart for decaf green tea bags. Second cheapest is Trader Joe's (half as many for the price, though). I boil water in a pan, then take the pan off the stove, and put in 16 decaf tea bags, and swish them around. When it cools down, I pour it into a gallon container and add water to fill the container, then sweeten each glass or bottle as I use it.
A great container to make it in, is the one that the ready-made Arizona decaf diet green tea comes in. You can get these at Safeway on sale often for around 2 for $5 or $6. Then, you can make your own after that in that container. It's a nice hard plastic.
I also like to drink something with flavor, and don't want calories or caffeine, and I feel like the green tea is good for me. I drink caffeinated coffee in the morning, then switch to decaf everything for the rest of the day, or I can't sleep at night.
Another note, I used to make regular iced tea, and it stained my teeth. The green tea doesn't seem to.
You are probably going to miss the carbonation the most. Try LaCroix sparkling waters. I love them!
This is my go to, carbonated waters. I drink the store brand (Kroger) as they're usually on sale, four 12 packs for $9. Kroger has also come out with lemon, lime, raspberry, grapefruit, etc but I just like the plain
I have the same issue. I either drink regular diet coke or caffeine free(or whatever other diet drink I can get my hands on like diet mountain dew). I feel like it's the only thing I can drink other water cus I have type 1 diabetes. But I've been hearing about the aspartame problems and other issues and I would like to quit but I don't know what to replace it with. I could do water but it has no taste and makes me go to the washroom a lot more than diet drinks do. Are there any diet drinks without these issues?
I gave up drinking diet Dr Pepper 5 years ago and replaced it with water that I have added Dasani Drops flavor enhancer too. It has 0 calories, 0 fat, 0 sodium, 0 potassium, 0 carbs
0 sugar and 0 protein, but tastes good.
I used to drink 2 caffeine-free Diet Cokes every day. I've read about its myriad of bad side effects though and have reduced it drastically to help feel better. I have developed insomnia, anxiety, etc. and have read that artificial sweeteners could be the cause. Also, even the caramel coloring is a carcinogen.
I must admit though that Diet Coke played a key role in my weight management. If I crave sweets, or have an aftertaste in my mouth, Diet Coke relieved it. I love aloe vera juice, but it's very expensive ($2 a bottle). Anyone out there know how I feel? Any suggestions?
Also, have you heard of Coca Cola Life? It's supposed to be a more natural Coke or better for the environment.
You can still drink coke, rootbeer and all of the other flavors of sodas with chemicals, just drink the natural versions. Don't know where you live but there's alot of different natural name brands with evaporated cane juice as a sweetner instead. Can juice is good for you instead of regular sugar which kills in more ways than one. Cane juice actually gives a natural energy boost. And the natural versions, especially cola and rootbeer, taste way better! The natural cokes they got out now taste just like the cokes we used to get back in the 60s and 70s. They make the chemical filled ones taste like motor oil.
If you have a Whole Foods, natural market or natural section at any of the supermarkets in your area, I'd start looking there for the different soda's.
Off the top of my head the natural brands who sell really good tasting cokes are:
BLue Sky (comes in 6pack cans)
Maine root. I'm addicted to their rootbeer. Taste just like the candy rootbeer candies
Hansens. Are one of the more popular natural soda brands
To find more brands I'd go on Amazon in search for natural sodas to see the whole line of them.

Um... cane juice IS sugar. It's from sugarcane. When they evaporate the water from the juice the resulting crystals are sugar crystals. There's no difference.
And the reason the Cokes taste the same is because back in the 60's they used to use sugar, then they switched to cheaper sweeteners.... but by using cane juice, they are still using sugar.
There's 2 things at work. First is -- manufacturers probably didn't have to convert processing plants from using a liquid sweetener to a crystalized sweetener by using cane juice -- just started pushing a different sweetener. Saved them money.
And second -- by people not knowing that anymore that "cane juice" is from sugarcane, they can fool people into thinking that it's new and special and healthy.... when in fact it's just sugar in a different form.
When I miss carbonated stuff I drink the San Pellegrino in the can blood orange yummmm. Also, Polar Seltzer's orange vanilla tastes just like a Creamsicle.
The different flavored teas have worked best for me. Some are pricey, but most are pretty cheap considering how much you get out of it.
