I have my first colonoscopy and so nervous about the prep. I have heard horror stories LOL about having to drink that gallon of PEG-3350.. heard it taste like sea water.. I have horrible gag reflexes and also diabetic so worried about the 24 hour of not eating something besides jello..
I read someone added half vitamin water and half regular water to the jug mix..Others said to add a packet of crystal light.. so any advice to get through prep day?

Just had one and I didn't have nearly a gallon to drink. Like you I was nervous but it wasn't unpleasant and the horror stories were much worse than the reality. Nothing to fear and the anesthesia is worth the whole thing.

My husband had one in 2012. His prep was easy and was mixed with crystal lite. He didn't even finish the 64 ounce jug and was cleaned out within 1/2 an hour. He was 40 at the time. He wasn't nervous at all. We have a really great doctor. He said the drink tasted ok but it wasn't the worst. The worst was the barium he had to drink for a scan of his stomach. (diverticulitis)

I've had two colonoscopies, and both time the prep made me gag and retch. I drank it with apple juice the first time, which was a very bad idea, and then Crystal Light the second time, which was much easier but still disgusting.

People keep telling me the prep isn't as bad as it used to be, but mine were both quite nasty.

My last one in 2015 was a breeze compared to earlier ones. The drink is not so massive. If you keep it in the frig it will taste better. I am also diabetic and they usually schedule us first thing in the morning. I was told to eat lightly the day before, no red meat, no red grapes, red gelatin, etc. I drank clear broth for dinner and 7 Up.

As others are saying, e-z peasy. You'll breeze right through it. Sounds scarier than it is. You just need to stay near a bathroom until you finish up your prep. It may be slightly uncomfortable but nothing to worry about.

Use Prepopik. 5 ounces of stuff each time you use it (split dose). The stuff tastes fine - like flat 7 up. Then you drink 24 and 16 ounces of the clear liquid of your choice, at a comfortable rate. Not a big deal. My only problem - I was on the go every half hour for 15 hours. We live out in the country, 45 minutes from the office. I was afraid I wouldn't be done in time for the trip to the city. I was, but it was nervewracking.

Just be close to the bathroom.

I overestimated the integrity of my sphincter under the assault of that SurePrep...three times.

Did you tell colonoscopy doctor about diabetes ? I'm not but my instruction sheet said to notify doc if you are. I assume they have you do something different if so.

Otherwise my prep last 2 times was Miralax (PEG) powder mixed in 1/2 gal. lime Gatorade. 8 oz. every 15 minutes. Not bad at all. Chicken broth helped on the food side.
