Yes, I had to stop it. Had severe GI adverse reaction. But not the severe c-diff type. Also, not like my penicillin family reaction which was Anaphylaxis.
Tell your dentist you're afraid to take it because of your dad and he'll give you a different one. You don't even really NEED any A/B before a root canal unless you fall into that small category of people. And I've had a TON of dental work. My entire mouth.
Sorry I forget which A/B my dentist replaced the clindamycin with when I called and said I couldn't tolerate it. Probably a run of the mill Zpac. I forget if that was for extractions or implants.
I had the same problem with doxycycline I was prescribed for Lyme titer. OMG that one was horrible which is how I knew to stop the clindamycin immediately.
