I have two cups of coffee in the morning but no caffeine during the day; I do decaf green tea. A new study came out recently, indicating that coffee extends life. It may also counter dementia.
Have dr. appt, 2 weeks.
Good luck with your appointment! Let us know how you make out,
When I got my tinnitus the ENT doctor twisted up a tissue and poked it in my eye. This was of course after the hearing test and examination. He said if mine was tumor related the optic nerve would have been affected. That was a long time ago maybe almost twenty years. Mine sounds like a quiet summer night in the woods.

Well, I just had cataract surgery so the clicking may have something to do with that. Or the degenerative osteoarthritis in my neck and everywhere else. The hydrogen peroxide and the hair dryer seem to be helping, and I quit the Ibuprofen.

I get cracking or popping sounds from the back of my neck or shoulders as well. When it happens in the vertebrae in my neck, I can also feel it as well as hear it. Knowing what it is helps identify what it is, although that doesn't make it feel any more comfortable. Not sure why cataracts or cataract surgery would cause any perceived noises though. Cataracts form from liquid and proteins that clump together in the lens of the eye. Never heard of noise happening, although it's possible person could have mild throbbing headaches that might contribute. When I had cataracts removed from my eyes, I opted for sedation.

Arthritis, you say? I almost didn't believe my SIL until I looked it up, but she says she was told she has arthritis in her ear. There are two bones in there and I'm not sure arthritis is the really proper description, but you can look it up. I think the proper term is otosclerosis.

Interesting. Thank you. I googled "otosclerosis and tinnitis" and it sounds like a possibility.
We'll see what the doctor says, though. No clicking all day, however, though I expect it when I go to bed. I had a new bed delivered today, quit the Ibuprofen and have been treating with hydrogen peroxide and a hairdryer when the clicking does start. Also experienced a business setback recently which was very stressful, though it is now completely resolved, so stress may be a factor, as mentioned.
I think I read somewhere that William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and some of the other actors in the original Star Trek had bad cases of this due to carelessness in shooting some of the louder scenes for the show.

I don't see the doc about this till mid-February. He wanted to let everything settle in. Still kind of uncomfortable, well aware I have the plastic disks in my eyes. Right eye sees fine but left eye blurry. They were done by different docs with different procedures. I got PO'd at the first doctor for not communicating with me and talking down to me, and I'm very glad I changed doctors mid-stream, so to speak.
It is a very big adjustment to go from nearsightedness to farsightedness. People told me it was nothing, but they were wrong. I was in hospital, sedated, for the first procedure on the left eye, and awake for the right eye.
I also have something peculiar growing at my gum line on the right side, like a root misplaced. I had teeth removed (mouth too small) and this has happened before. I hope like hell none of these things are related.

Thanks. As I mentioned, I've been through cataract surgery as well. A problem that cropped up for me after the surgery is that I had severe double vision with seeing objects somewhat one above the other as opposed to the more common side by side kind of view. I wore glasses before, and still had to wear them after the surgery. The lenses were altered to try to line up my vision more properly. It took some time to adjust, but I still have the same double vision, just not all the time.
Since the topic of the thread is primarily related to tinnitus, have you had your hearing checked recently? I have tinnitus that drives me crazy. It's an extremely high-pitched and continuous buzzing. One side is slightly lower in pitch. It reminds me of the sound cicadas make. As for the clicking you mentioned, here's a link I came across that may or may not relate to your situation. Again, you might want to have a specialist exam your ears and hearing.
What does your tinnitus sound like? Here is one link and you can play some of the common sounds: https://www.soundrelief.com/tinnitus/sounds-tinnitus/. I can hear nothing of sound #2 in that link. That has to be close to the one I have had for the last 60 years. I never thought of tinnitus as a 'clicking' sound. My tinnitus did start off with short periods which became longer with time.
LOL! I was playing those when my son was cooking steaks and he thought the smoke alarm went off.

Thanks! No clicking tonight. I've had problems with my eustachian tube my entire life, so it is very likely eustachian tube dysfunction and not tinnitus at all. Guess I'll find out at my appointment here in a couple weeks.
