This is a discussion board where people discuss things. A good amount of the threads on here are nothing more than entertainment or educational. Someone I know is having a procedure that I'm curious about regards to how safe it is as I pass time in my hotel room before a meeting. This is why forums exist silly.....SMH
to each his own. i don't get it either, but i wouldn't interfere. it's none of my business what someone wants to do to their body. isn't there a cable show somewhere about plastic surgery gone wrong and the billionaire doctors in Beverly Hills who correct the mistakes??? anyone remember Joan Rivers going in for routine surgery for a hoarse voice and acid reflux and winding up dead? even the most basic routine procedure has risks..... all surgery is a gamble, you just hope you have the very best doctor and anesthesiologist.
It has risks but so does going sky-diving or driving across the country.
I might suggest to my wife that if her sis is determined to go through with it then help her find a good doc etc.
It's so amazing how we all think and some so adamantly against unnecessary surgeries. One can find and get the best doctor and then deal with what they end up with...the doctor isn't there for them to do their life. He/she will re-do surgeries etc since that's what they do. I'd do all in my power and prayer to talk my sil out of something like this. Where does it end. Sounds like she has a lot of life ahead of her and will see how the butt all unfolds.
One of the biggest complaints the middle aged and older members at the gym I go to - are sagging of their glutes. They comment on how the shape has changed over time and no matter how much glute work or squats they do, it is hard to reverse that problem. Unfortunately younger girls do not consider that - what happens over time. I can't imagine the issues implants would have - that much more heaviness when the supporting structures are weakened with age. Fat, I would think, is a tad better, but not that much of a better choice. More issues to deal with later. But hey. Her booty, her choice.

Has anyone had or known someone that has had butt augmentation? My wife is trying to talk her sister out of this because of some horror stories she's read about. The procedure works with some type of fat transferring.
I don't get it. This woman is quite attractive and already has a really nice butt. She has said before that she's always been jealous of my wife's backside, which is on the big side for her frame, and my wife is jealous of her sister who has always been very tall and lean.
Both of these women look great in a swimsuit in their own way. Why can't people just be happy with the way they're put together. I've told my sister in-law that for every guy that's into women with curves, there is a guy that will be into a woman with a toned athletic body like hers. I just don't get why someone would take the risk.
If she qualifies and is getting a BBL, they take her own fat from somewhere else via lipo. They then process and purify it and it's injected into the butt to make it perkier/bigger/rounder/whatever the goal is. If it's all done correctly, the result should be long lasting.
She won't be able to sit directly on her butt for 2-3 weeks and she will have to wear special compression undergarments. And of course there's risks, as with any surgery. Fat embolism is very rare, but possibly fatal. A good surgeon is a must and won't be cheap. Waiting lists are usually long.
From stuff I've read, my impression is, that a BBL is the safest, (all things considered) because it's your own fat being injected back into your own body.
Next safest is silicone implants, and lastly (and don't do it) silicone or other substances injected directly into the butt.

Have you researched the infection rates?
