Hi,

I broke my tibia while walking my dog on Jan. 4, 2008. At my last visit to my ortho, the xray showed one of the 5 screws had broken. The dr. did not seem concerned and said it was common. Anyone heard of a broken screw being common?

I had a tri-maleolar fracture. I have 10 screws and a plate in my ankle. I haven't experienced any broken, but I have heard stories about bent or broken screws. So, don't worry.

regina2girls - My friend was just told at her last ortho visit that the screw in her foot/ankle was broken. She has to undergo surgery for repair.

Thanks for your responses, but this happened Jan 4th and I still can not bear weight w/out pain and am still on crutches (my BMI is 26) . Just a little afraid I will have to undergo surgery again!
