You want to avoid germs? Clip your fingernails. Clip them all the way, as if you were a surgeon or a concert pianist. For all the women with the elegantly mannered long nails - that's a haven for germs.
Washing your hands is fine, but it helps if you can truly wash everything out and off.

I agree. I've always clipped my nails as short as I can. I've always thought long nails are gross and far from elegant. I also notice that most who have long nails don't keep them all the way clean. Yuck!
Ruh-roh. I'm in this camp but nails are trendy now. Hands pick up most of the germs that make us sick so I've never been into long nails as fashion. Keeping hands truly clean and disinfected is tough on skin and nails.
Also make sure to clean and disinfect rings regularly, they get pretty grody.
When I see really long nails it always brings to mind the wealth stigmas of the ancient Chinese...only the very rich possessed them because they didn't have to do manual labor and could command others to do everything for them. My impression is that the raptor-clawed person doesn't do much of anything with their hands and that they worry about and fuss over their nails a lot...time they'll never get back. It also gives me the impression they have voluntarily chosen to make themselves less able, more dependent and expect to be helped through daily life by other people. Shudder-worthy!

Wonder if making an anti-viral creme to put under the nails would be of any use? Maybe some sort of white so it can be a French polish effect?
The other good thing to do is to dress in 50's fashion and wear white gloves. Of course, you'd have to have a matching white purse, hat and shoes, but it would give you an excuse to wear the gloves.
