Why so upset? It's only for a note. Everybody knows to stay home.

This is random and vague. Your locale may have a lot to do with how the health professionals are managing things.

Child needs a doctors note for a runny nose? Who “diagnosed” the child? Are Covid tests not needed for anyone who is symptomatic within a school setting?

I’m sorry. This post seems like utter nonsense. I don’t know what the agenda would be but this does not seem legitimate.

If I’m wrong - Deal with the school. I’m sure they have phones. If not - you shouldn’t want your child to go there.

Have you followed what's been going on or are you living under a rock?

Unless you are willing to pay higher taxes for the government to do something about it, even if that costs money!
If people stayed home when they were sick, they would spread far less disease. So what it uses up your PTO and maybe some vacation? Think of others! I ended up with a severe case of the flu and fought to stay out of the hospital because someone sat and coughed behind me for 2 hours in a meeting. I ended up sick for 4 months because of that person's inconsiderateness. I don't know how many other people got sick either.

Can't the doc at least do a "Tele-a-Doc" phone "visit" to write the kid a note. ?
A tele visit can't tell if she has covid or a cold. OP just needs to take her to a clinic for a covid test. Negative and the school should let her back in.

Is it because of a covid test? When my daughter was younger and still in school she had to have a doctor's note in order to be able to make up her school work. If not then the absence was unexcused and she failed her assignments for that day.

One job of a doctor is to see his/her patients when they're sick. Doctor is refusing to do a basic job of being a doctor.

Many doctor’s offices aren’t open. Teledoc is happening on many offices. Different states even different counties have different protocols. Everything isn’t up to the doctors. There are so many government mandates. In my state doctors weren’t even allowed to see patients for weeks when this all began.

and to follow on to my earlier post, here's an article in todays NY Times that 'thousands' of medical practices have shut down according to a survey of doctors cited in the article. Lots of doctors and nurses are quitting and retiring early in response to the pandemic and changes in socierty due to what's going on:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/15/h...-quitting.html

so it may not be easy to just 'find another doctor'
