twinkletwinkle22,

I appreciate your post. What other info needs to be correlated with the calcium scan? I'm thinking that
if my test results are "average for my age," I won't consider a statin.

Pharma in this particular health issue has done lots of damage thru the years and your response it's my way of looking at it, actually I have looked at it since I was around 18 yrs old.

The last labs I have with more breakdown than the OneBlood Center results (No notes to the HDL) are from July 2020 and the HDL at that time came back at 65

I get an EKG yearly at my primary care doctor as part of my health screening. As someone mentioned though, an EKG won't show clogged arteries.

Not even an Echo Cardiogram will do that...It's the CT or nothing else

Well the insurance company will ask for supporting evidence from the ordering physician and in most cases they will not approve it, those are the exact words of my PCP 6 yrs ago., so the good hearted man told me that his Hospital RAN for a full month every year a free CT of the Arteries with his orders.

So back in 2016 I got it and it came back CLEAN, my arteries totally free of deposits..... In late 2020 I did another one, same place same ordering Doctor, but it was not a free one any longer, But I gladly paid $130.00 for it, just for my peace of mind and really de PCP, because I refuse to take statins...Once more the results were 100% in my favour and he will leave me alone for a few more years.

Again my take is that this CT must be offered across the nation for a huge discount for Self Pay Patients, my experience is proof, just talk to your PCP and inquire around in your surroundings and you might be surprised
