Did you have a high fever with COVID? Fevers can interrupt the hair growth cycle so the follicles briefly stall out. You'll notice it 3-4 months later when there is no replacement for the hair you lose naturally. It will grow back.

Yes, I did. I regularly hit 102.0 degrees. I only started this thread to see how commonplace this was with other people who had Covid,

And of the medications you were treated with how many have a history of known side effects of thinning hair?

The follicle interruption can also happen when you get general anesthesia, happened to me a couple of times.

This is what happened to me. I lost about forty percent of my hair after having had a bout with COVID in March of 2020. It's still in the process of growing back, but it *is* growing.

My hair has always been super thick and curly, so it's not obvious to anyone who didn't know just how much hair I had before I was ill.

Yes, I forgot to include this in my previous post.

And yes, this usually happens 2-4 months after the illness, surgery, fever, emotional stressful issues such as job loss, family issues...whatever stress the body/immune system contends with.

It doesn't happen to everyone under every circumstance, but it does happen.

I had severe COVID in November. I was hospitalized due to liver and kidney issues. I have mostly bounced back. I would say about 95%. About a month after recovery hair started falling out and it is still. It comes out in big chunks. I have lost almost half my hair. Apparently it is normal after a body experiences trauma or stress. It is so frustrating... I want to cry taking a shower. I have to carefully tie it back or it gets in food. I always have like 50 hairs stuck to my shirt. I am so tempted to just buzz it so I don't have to clean it up from everywhere. I already bought a wig topper. But colorful wigs could be fun. They say after 6 months of shedding it is supposed to start growing back... I already take biotin and collagen.
